THE CREATIVE IDEA

There are emoji for red and sparkling wines but not for rosé wines. Why not creating an emoji to give voice to this category too? This is how Angelo Peretti, Director of Consorzio di Tutela del Chiaretto di Bardolino got the idea of Pink Wine, the rosé wine emoji designed by Paffi Creative Studio.

WHAT WE HAVE DONE

We have submitted to Unicode Consortium, which supervises universal character encoding, the request to insert the Pink Wine emoji. We then share the news among national and international publications about the Pink Wine emoji request. This led to an intense debate over the issue and about rosé wines, which are often misrepresented. In addition to this, we have also created a succesfull online petition on change.org to support the request.

OUR CONTRIBUTION

  • We have conceived the communication campaign
  • We have gathered all the material and carried out the submitting process to the Unicode Consortium
  • We have sent out Pink Wine emoji press release to both national and international publications along with follow-up acivities
  • We have created and handled the petition supporting the Pink Wine emoji
  • We have handled Chiaretto di Bardolino Consortium social media pages (Facebook and Instagram)

RESULTS

The Pink Wine emoji news has been relaunched by Italian and foreign main publications in the US, UK, France, Spain, Brazil, Germany. The Times, The Daily Telegraph, BBC, Food&Wine, JancisRobinson.com, Decanter, Falstaff were some of the publications covering the news. This has allowed us to cast a light on Chiaretto di Bardolino and on rosé wines which are often considered a minor category despite the fact nowadays the represent a considerable share of the international market.
